Meal Preparation for Seniors: Keeping a Healthy Balance

  • Avoid empty calories such as chips, candy, baked goods, soda, and alcohol.
  • Pick foods with less cholesterol and fat. Avoid saturated and trans fats. These types of fat come from animals and processed fat, such as margarine, vegetable shortening, and fried food from fast-food restaurants.
  • Drink plenty of liquids especially when taking medicine.
